My least favorite chores

If you knew me back when I was in college you will think this is pretty funny.  I am a neat freak, now.

Back in the day I was living willy nilly not a care in the world.  Vaccum what the heck does that mean sort of thing.  Putting things away was not even in my thought process.  Basically I was a lazy college kid who thought going to class 16 hours a week and partying the rest of the time was hard work.  So hard that I napped away my weekends and my house looked like a war zone.

Nowadays I am a clean freak in every sense of the word.  Everything has a place.  I unpack from a weekend away the second I get home.  My bed gets made daily, and I vaccum more than should be allowed.  I have almost made being clean my hobby.  A lame hobby, but a hobby none the less.

There are a few exceptions to all of this.  I absolutely can't stand putting the laundry away.  I don't mind doing laundry or folding it, but as long as folded and in a basket I feel like I can hide it in my laundry room.

Case in point, this basket of clean clothes has been sitting in my laundry room since last Sunday.

And this pile will just grow as I do laundry today.  Maybe I should stop blogging about how much I hate putting the laundry away and just go do it.

Busy little Bee

I know it is only Monday, but I am already finding myself pressed for time. I don't have time today to sit down and put effort into a post, and I can't see myself having any time to devote to a post until Friday.

Tomorrow I am off to North Platte for work, but before I could leave I had a lot to do tonight.  Like...go to the gym (there ya'll go laughing again), order my Brother a birthday gift (his birthday is Wednesday after all), and order a few dresses from my new favorite place (shabbyapple.com), and at some point before I can go to bed tonight I need to put clean sheets on my bed.

It may not sound like a lot, but when you have your last work appointment at 7pm and you like to go to bed by 9pm (laugh it up I like to be well rested) it is a ton, and it stresses a girl out.

By stress I mean I will probably break out like a 13 year old girl, and it won't be pretty.

I promised myself when I started this blog a whole week ago I wouldn't make it a larger version of facebook update, that promise to myself clearly lasted a week.  I am sorry.

Favorite Places to Shop

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

1) Target - I have not stepped foot in Target's  evil cousin in months, and I am proud of that.  A good portion of my groceries, clothes, toiletries come from Target.  I feel like I could live solely off Target.  Of course I can't find a picture of something from Target right now, but use your imagination.

2) Nell Hill - Nell Hill also known as Mary Carrol Garrity is a interior designer with a couple stores in Kansas, and I LOVE her.  I have had the chance to meet her a couple times and she is the sweetest lady, and without her my apartment would be quite bland.

3) Also on my list of favorites is Von Maur - although their selection seems to get worse and worse everytime I go in there.

4) TJ Maxx - one of my favorite places to go when you don't know what your looking for.  Speaking of which I need some help which of these two platters should I keep...

Bullet points are my thing

  • Friday's are going to be my day to embrace my writers block and join in on a little blog fun, during my pre-blogging research I found a website Kelly's Show us Your Life Fridays.  Basically every Friday she has a little topic you write about, and then link to your post on her primary blog Kelly's Korner.  It is brilliant, and basically cures my writers block.  So you know this Friday is all about your favorite shopping spots, now that is something even I can write about.
  • I love my life here in the "city" (I use that word lightly, this is Nebraska after all), but nothing beats going to a sale barn with my Dad (by going I mean driving him, and then sitting there soaking in the lovely aroma).  I have gotten into a habit of going to the sale in Columbus on Saturdays with him, and I am so looking forward to this Saturday. I look forward to it so much I go to bed early, just so I am ready at 6 am.  I love it.  * He takes me driving him as the only payment he is ever going to get for the abuse I put his credit card through.  Which is his fault not mine, shouldn't have given his only daughter a credit card if he didn't want me to use it.

  • Last but not least, I don't trust those nurse practitioners at the local grocery store/CVS, why not you might ask let me tell you...I went in for a dull yet sharp pain IN my ear, she hadn't even looked in my ear when she decided I had obviously hurt my ear while doing my Jillian Michaels workout DVD.  I gave her the you have got to be kidding me look, she then looked in my ears asked a few more questions and continued blaming it on Jillian (which doesn't hurt my feelings, Jillian is making me misrable) until I let the cat out of the bag, I go to a chiropractor.  You guessed it, now she is splitting the blame, Jillian and the Chiropractor.  I laughed told her my EARS hurt not my neck, not my back, not my hips, MY EARS.  She did nothing for me, and still charged me $25.  Needless to say I am going back to the Chiropractor this afternoon, and I have a meeting with my Jillian Michaels DVD this evening.

Writers Block Plan

Day two of blogging and I already have writers block.  This is why I was an Animal Science major, no need to worry about writers block, just palpating cows, and prolapses.

In case ya'll don't know my life isn't all that exciting. Certainly not as exciting as my life was back when I was in college, when I actually had a life.

Nowadays I spend my time at work, working out, (I heard the chuckles, and yes I have a New Years Resolution.  So far so good) and in whatever free time I have I spend planning my next destination party with Laura.

Destination Partying is an art.  An art that Laura and I have pretty much mastered. One that doesn't include getting arrested in Mexico, or sleeping on the streets of Vegas.

For the educational part of this post I am going to go ahead and tell you how to plan a successful destination party, with a few hard learned lessons.

*Disclaimer* This probably won't be funny to anyone but Laura and I, writers block my friends is going to be painful for all of us.

1) When picking out a destination it is best if you make it a place you have minimal contacts.  No need to accidently run into your Great Aunt Bertha while you're hungover at lunch on Saturday afternoon.  Basically the less people you know the less traceable you are.  Plain and simple you don't want the poor shmuck watching you puke by the elevator* to unknowingly be your long lost Cousin.

2) Make sure you always have a camera, you never know when you might meet someone famous, or as have one of those moments when you think something is really photo worthy.  And if you do meet someone famous don't act like a jackass and be a blubbering mess until you get all the loot you can off of them.**

3) Strategically pick out a hotel that is well known, has a distinct name, or is in an old riverboat.  You never know when one of the parties is going to run away with strangers and only remember that she is sleeping on a riverboat.***

4) Plan on buying some sort of purse, because chances are your going to try and sneak a beer out of the bar in your purse, and you will ruin your purse.  And if you don't ruin all of the money in your purse be guaranteed you will come home with some sort of new turquoise jewelry.

And that my friends is how to make every destination a party.  If you need any consulting on how to be a success I would be glad to do some consulting, for a small fee.

*Hard lesson number one, but he wasn't my cousin...he was foreign.
** I really hope Jason Boland is the next George Clooney, because I have more Jason Boland loot than should be allowed.
*** It was my counterpart.  Not me, and she is lucky I am sparing her the humility of the one picture I have of her on that riverboat.
**** Most of my jewelry has a good story behind it.  And I think we both have purses that smell like cheep bars.

Welcome, and I apologize for the lame name...

Welcome to my blog, I mean for the whole two people that might read this thing.

I had more trouble naming my blog than I thought I would, it ended up stressing me out beyond belief.  Coming up with a name was like coming up with a name for a Facebook photo album,  and it turns out I can't just name my blog Winter 2010 and hope it is good enough.

For those of you who don't know me (who am I kidding, everyone who reads this will know me...but I am going to carry on like you don't know me) I was raised in the Midwest in a cattle family (so I am not really as "accidental" as I lead you to believe.  But we did live in town...) and moved to Wyoming for college where I found my inner Rhinestone Cowgirl.  I am back in the Midwest now, but nothing beats wearing boots and a chunky necklace.  Any day is better with a little turquoise.

With this little blog I really want to keep up with my friends that are spread all over the place.  I want this to be a place I can come to write out some of the funny things I come across, to document some of my pictures, To move on from Facebook to a more mature place.

I will leave ya'll with one or two (I never said I was modest) pictures of myself and my favorite things.

(Oh and did anyone notice how many sets of parenthesis I use, I bet all of you journalist/editor friends of mine a.k.a. all of you that read this hate me now.  Don't blame me I was an Animal Science major.)
